A small hotel stitched into Rua das Farinhas
Casa Teva Lisboa Boutique Hotel by chic&basic occupies a row of restored houses on Rua das Farinhas. Fourteen rooms and suites sit behind the traditional façades, ranging from twins and superior rooms to family rooms and suites. Private bathrooms, air conditioning, minibars and soundproofing are joined by breakfast, a lift and reception staffed 24 hours.
This is one of the few places in Mouraria’s inner streets that operates with the support of a fully staffed small hotel. That matters when arriving late, leaving luggage or asking for advice about the city. The scale remains personal, and the restoration has not erased the character of the original houses. Outside, the cobbled approach still climbs through old Mouraria, so the lift inside does not make the entire arrival step-free.

Casa Teva is remembered first for its people. The welcome is personal, local advice is thoughtful and the team remain available when a question arises later in the stay. Rooms are kept exceptionally clean, beds are comfortable and the soundproofing removes much of the activity from the streets outside. Breakfast adds ease to the morning, while the compact size allows staff to recognise guests without the atmosphere becoming overly formal.
The restored houses do not produce identical bedrooms. Some are more generous than others, and air conditioning aimed directly towards the bed has bothered a number of light sleepers. A suite may be a better choice when floor space matters, but it is worth comparing the actual dimensions rather than choosing by room name alone. The hotel is calm inside; the main physical challenge is reaching Rua das Farinhas over the surrounding cobbles and incline.
