The hotel
Hotel Britania Art Deco is a four-star hotel designed in the 1940s, and the period survives in polished timber, cork floors and restored furniture. Its 35 rooms are unusually generous for central Lisbon, ranging from approximately 22 to 60 square metres. Breakfast is served until noon. A welcome drink, afternoon tea and complimentary port encourage guests to use the lounge during the day and return to it after dinner.
The hotel stands just off Avenida da Liberdade, east of Príncipe Real. There is no rooftop bar or pool; the attraction is spacious accommodation, attentive service and a historic interior that has not been stripped back or remade in a fashionable style. Decoration remains deliberately traditional. A 22 m² room and a 60 m² suite are very different propositions, and bathroom size and outlook also change from one floor to another. Read the measurements and stated view before booking.

Before you book
The staff set the tone at Hotel Britania. Guests repeatedly describe service as warm and attentive, with the large rooms and breakfast served until noon close behind. Afternoon tea and port keep the lounge in regular use, and many visitors appreciate staying among original materials rather than a modern reproduction of the period. The traditional decoration will not appeal equally to committed minimalists. Bathroom size and the view from the windows depend on room and floor, so check the published dimensions and outlook before booking.
